Guinea Pig Care
Housing
Guinea pigs need a secure environment to call home. There are many cage choices available, or you can make your own! See our Resources section for more information. Even though they are small, it's best to get the largest cage you can.
Feeding
Guinea pigs need to have fresh water and hay available at all times. They also need good quality pellets daily as well as a variety of fresh foods. Good choices are leafy greens or colored vegetables (especially those high in vitamin C, such as bell pepper, tomato, and asparagus).Other good choices for vegetables include green and red leaf lettuce, Romaine lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, endive, kale, carrot tops, beet greens, cilantro, carrot, and squash.
Grooming
Guinea pig generally take care of this on their own. If your piggie does end up needing a bath make sure to use a shampoo specifically for small animals since human or dog shampoo is too strong
